READ THIS BEFORE APPLYING — IT AFFECTS WHETHER YOU CAN PRACTISE. UMST Rwanda is NOT a standalone accredited Rwandan medical school. It functions purely as an OFF-SHORE / AFFILIATED ACADEMIC PROGRAMME of the University of Medical Science and Technology, whose parent campus is in Sudan. ITS QUALIFICATIONS DO NOT AUTOMATICALLY GRANT REGISTRATION WITH THE RWANDA MEDICAL AND DENTAL COUNCIL (RMDC) for independent medical practice — you would have to pass the national RMDC licensure evaluation examinations separately. CONTRAST WITH AFRICA HEALTH SCIENCES UNIVERSITY, where RMDC and NCNM registration is confirmed outright. The parent portal umst-edu.sd returned HTTP 404 on both its home page and its admissions page at the time of recording, and the local Rwandan domain is inactive, so there is no working application route recorded. Administrative enquiries reportedly route through the Ministry of Health / HEC desk; no direct public phone number is published.

- IMPORTANT — read before treating this as a normal listing. UMST is a Sudanese medical university, founded in Khartoum in 1996, whose Rwandan presence began in August 2023 as an emergency relocation after the Sudanese conflict: Rwanda received over 200 UMST students, initially placed with the University of Rwanda's School of Medicine and Health Sciences, and by 2024 UMST was hosting around 700 Sudanese students at the former KIM University site at Nyandungu. Three things are unresolved and all of them matter more than the fee. First, whether UMST accepts NEW applicants at all, or exists in Rwanda only to teach out the relocated cohort. Second, its regulatory status in Rwanda — whether it holds HEC accreditation, operates under a specific government arrangement, or awards Sudanese degrees from Rwandan soil. Third, and decisive for a medical qualification, which country's degree a graduate receives and whether the medical councils where they intend to practise recognise it. No fee, contact detail, phone, email or Rwanda-specific website was located from any source. Do not commit to this institution without answers to all three questions in writing. No scholarships. NOTE the web portal is broken: umst-edu.sd returns 404 on every path checked, so there is no working online application route. Approximately USD 3,000-6,000 per year, varying between Medicine, Dentistry and Medical Laboratory Sciences. IMPORTANT — VERIFY ACCREDITATION YOURSELF BEFORE ENROLLING: this record carries a note that UMST Rwanda operates as an offshore/affiliated programme whose qualifications do not automatically confer Rwanda Medical and Dental Council (RMDC) registration, while the institution's own website presents it as an accredited medical university in Kigali. Those two statements conflict. For a medical degree the difference decides whether you can practise, so confirm the current position directly with the RMDC and HEC rather than relying on either source.
