- No SJUIT fee figures could be verified — contact info@sjuit.ac.tz or +255 680 277 914. TEST THE AFFORDABILITY CLAIM: SJUIT states it is committed to offering excellent quality education at the most affordable cost, but publishes no figures anywhere retrievable, so the claim is untested. Get actual numbers and compare against public alternatives — for engineering, the Dar es Salaam Institute of Technology is likely cheaper. Engineering students should budget for workshop and laboratory costs, health students for uniforms and placement travel. Both campuses sit on Dar es Salaam's outskirts where costs are lower than the centre, but the city remains Tanzania's most expensive. Add the TZS 20,000 annual TCU quality assurance fee.
Admissions
- YOUR DISCIPLINE DETERMINES YOUR CAMPUS. SJUIT is organised into colleges rather than faculties, each on its own site: engineering at the Mbezi Luguruni main campus, health and allied sciences at Boko Dovya. A third college of Management and Commerce at Makambako is reported by one source but not another — and if it exists it sits roughly 700km away in Njombe Region, a completely different proposition. Confirm before applying.
- ASK FOR WRITTEN CONFIRMATION OF PROFESSIONAL RECOGNITION: Engineers Registration Board for engineering, and the relevant council for health programmes. Neither was confirmed, and both determine whether you can practise.
- THE ENGINEERING CATALOGUE IS UNUSUALLY GRANULAR for a private university here — six named degrees including Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics, Electronics and Communication, Computer Science Engineering, and Information Systems. Note that Computer Science is framed as an engineering discipline, following the Indian rather than British convention.
- DIRECT ENTRY: two ACSEE principal passes at E or above totalling 4.0 points; engineering specifies mathematics and physics, health biology and chemistry.
- If you are not Catholic, ask whether you would be admitted — this was not established, though Ruaha Catholic University in Tanzania states openly that it is open to all faiths.
- Accepts international applicants
