Carnegie Mellon University Africa (CMU-Africa) is an overseas campus of the College of Engineering of Carnegie Mellon University, located in Kigali Innovation City in Kigali, Rwanda, East Africa.

Tuition
- Tuition: USD 16,000 to 60,300 per year
- African nationals pay USD 16,000 per year through a combined CMU and Government of Rwanda package. The unsubsidised international rate is USD 60,300. Laptop, textbooks, technology fee, health insurance, campus shuttle and student life activities are included. Official annual living costs estimated at USD 4,220-6,530. ABOUT USD 16,000 PER YEAR — quoted in US dollars, and by far the highest headline fee in the Rwandan data. BUT READ THE SUBSIDY BEFORE RULING IT OUT: East African Community citizens receive up to 50% automatically, funded by the Government of Rwanda, and full Mastercard Foundation grants are available. Provision is POSTGRADUATE ONLY (MSIT, MS ECE, MS EAI) — there is no undergraduate entry. The degree is awarded by Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh and accredited by MSCHE in the USA.
Admissions
- A completed bachelor's degree. Final-year applicants may apply with unofficial transcripts and provide official ones on admission.
- A grading scale, grading key or transcript back page must accompany the transcript.
- MSIT and MS EAI: three short essay questions with an optional fourth, maximum 300 words each. No recommendation letters at application; the admissions team contacts referees.
- MS ECE: a statement of purpose with no word limit. Referees receive a link and complete the recommendation online.
- Plagiarism in the essay or statement of purpose results in denial.
