Byumba School of Nursing And Midwifery
MERGED INTO THE UNIVERSITY OF RWANDA. Absorbed into the UR College of Medicine and Health Sciences (CMHS). Full accreditation and council registration privileges are maintained under UR, so graduates register normally and the award comes from the University of Rwanda. Apply through UR rather than to the school directly.
Programmes
- Advanced Diploma (A1) in General Nursing
- Advanced Diploma (A1) in Midwifery
- Postgraduate and Continuing Education Tracks in Paediatric and Maternal Health
Tuition
- Government-subsidised local students pay approximately RWF 600,000 per academic year; self-sponsored and international students roughly RWF 1,500,000 to 2,200,000 — so THE SELF-SPONSORED RATE IS AROUND THREE TIMES THE SUBSIDISED ONE. Establish which category you fall into before budgeting. These are University of Rwanda rates, since the school operates under UR. Government subsidies available for qualifying students.
Admissions
- ENTRY: Secondary School Leaving Certificate (A2 / S6) with AT LEAST TWO PRINCIPAL PASSES IN BIOLOGY AND CHEMISTRY, at a MINIMUM OF 24 TO 30 POINTS depending on UR CMHS annual weightings. Note the points threshold moves year to year — check the current weighting rather than assuming.
- YOU APPLY THROUGH THE UNIVERSITY OF RWANDA, not to the school. It operates under the UR College of Medicine and Health Sciences.
- REGISTRATION IS CONFIRMED: graduates register directly with the NATIONAL COUNCIL OF NURSES AND MIDWIVES (NCNM) under the University of Rwanda accreditation charter.
- Second phone: +250 252 530 842. General UR enquiries: info@ur.ac.rw
- NOTE ON THE APPLICATION PORTAL: the widely cited application.ur.ac.rw address did not resolve at the time of recording — start at ur.ac.rw.
